It'd be nice if Origin and Steam game keys allowed for free downloads between the two.As promised, first of all let’s see what and how many expansions have been released to date for The Sims 4: But thanks Shadow, too, because most of what you said sounds like it'd work. Yeah, I tried to email EA but after typing the message for 10 minutes, I hit submit and the site never sent it. And it worked just fine-totally transparently.
I got the base game off Origin with that 9-9-9 sale last year, but then bought the EP on disk so I could play it on both Mac and PC. I've had really good luck with their phone people the last couple weeks but the chat people are usually not very focused or knowledgeable, alas.Īs to question 2, I can tell you that the one time I did buy a base game digitally and then got an expansion on disk (Sims Medieval, Pirates & Nobles EP), my computer was perfectly happy with it. I think Shadow's got the right of it but to make extra sure it's probably not a bad idea to phone Origin/EA and ask. You know, this is one big reason I always buy my Sims games on disk. If you put it on a computer today, there's practically no load time at all (you can't even read all the scrolling text on the title screen), and it defaults to the highest possible settings.
Man, remember back in The Sims 1 days when the only option was to go to the store and install it on some clunky machine? Ha, and back then it would run so slow and default to the lowest graphic settings. If my base game was installed by a physical copy placed into the D Drive, would downloading an expansion through Origin work? What about through Steam?
If I wanted another expansion, and my base game was installed through Steam, would my PC recognize a physical copy of the expansion, or still not due to it being all through the Steam engine?ģ.
If I wanted another expansion (say, Seasons if it is not released to Valve and Steam players), would downloading the expansion through Origin still run if the base game was installed through Steam?Ģ. So, I have a few compatibility questions between the three platforms:ġ. I had no idea about EA's "Origin" until I had already discovered Valve Software's "Steam" and downloaded The Sims 3 base game and Late Night.
